Alexander and Wilks - Taylor Spindle
The Taylor Spindle is designed to fix a mortice handle or knob in position.
Fixed dummy spindles are often used to split a pair of knobs and use on double wardrobe doors, or to give a solid fix to a handle on a slave door on double opening french doors.
The Taylor Spindle does not pass through the door like regular spindles. Instead, it is fixed to the face of the door. After the spindle is fixed, the door handle or doorknob can be placed onto it, effectively making a fixed door handle for push/pull use. The Taylor Spindle locates into the rear of the door handle and does not rotate, holding the lever or knob in place, and preventing it from turning.
The inspiration behind Alexander & Wilks reflects the heritage of Britain’s engineering and design expertise. The history aficionados and anglophiles amongst you will recognise that the brand takes its name from two of Britain’s most famous engineers; Sir Alexander Issigonis and Maurice Wilks; the designers of the original Mini and Land Rover respectively.
